Love Works

As part of the Christ Church 50th Anniversary Celebration, Love Works was created to help honor God with acts of service. Please consider volunteering in one or more of the projects listed as an individual, with your family, or with a small group.

Cell to Cell Literature Distribution Program
Wayside Cross Ministries
1st Saturday of Every Month

“Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” Hebrews 13:1-3

Volunteers are needed for the Stateville Saturdays program. Go cell to cell visiting with men, talking & praying with them, distributing Bibles, books, magazines, and other Christian literature.  The inmates are HAPPY & EAGER to see volunteers! These men are locked down around-the-clock, with no TV or radio. They only have the literature they receive from volunteers.

Volunteers supply their own literature. Volunteers must be 18 or older with no felony convictions. Males & females are welcome. There will be an experienced group leader guiding each group. You must submit your name, SSN & DOB six weeks in advance to obtain a security clearance. Illinois prison policies say anyone visiting or corresponding with any inmate in any Illinois State Prison cannot participate in any "in prison" volunteer programs.
