Prayer Ministry Opportunities

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”
Philippians 4:6-7

Prayer Before & During Worship Services

Join us prior to our Sunday morning services as we pray for our church community and leaders.

Additionally, join us as we begin to build a team of people committed to praying during our Sunday morning services.

Let's come together to praise God and ask the Holy Spirit to move in our midst during our time of corporate worship!

Contemplative prayer is the spiritual discipline of turning the eyes of our heart toward God and silently resting in God’s Presence. This weekly small group combines ongoing instruction and discussion on one particular method of Christian contemplation with the opportunity to practice contemplative prayer together.

Interested? Join the group on Sunday or email Rich Butler  (630) 209-9310

Prayer Altar
Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. Sanctuary Hall

Prayer Altar

A Prayer Altar is a multi-faceted foundation to our relationship with God and a gateway to the Spiritual realm. It is first established in the heart of His child.

It is where we praise, worship, listen to His voice, resolve to walk in obedience and invite the fullness of His Presence into our midst as we surrender our lives to Him.

This is our reasonable response to the love of God expressed by the reconciling life, death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ.  (Romans 12:1&2)

There is a corporate expression of this that happens at Christ Church on Tuesday evenings from 7:00PM - 9:00PM.  We meet in Sanctuary Hall, which is entered into via the rear of the Sanctuary. Occasionally our location changes, so check the electronic kiosk upon entering the building for verification of room.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
1st Wednesday of the month
11:00 a.m. in the Commons

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Circle of Prayer and Creativity

Are you interested in knitting or crocheting a prayer shawl or sewing a prayer blanket to be given to someone experiencing a special joy or a difficult challenge in life?

You can make prayer shawls whenever you choose in your schedule and (as you're able) gather with others in a Circle of Prayer and Creativity to knit, crochet, or sew together. As you make a prayer shawl you are encouraged to pray for all who are facing difficulties and specifically for the person (known or unknown) who will receive your prayer shawl.

The prayer shawls/prayer blankets are given as a visual and tangible expression and reminder of the love of God and the love of his people. Those who received the prayer shawls are invited to wrap themselves in God's Love during times of prayer and Bible reading, during times of joy and celebration and during times of pain and discernment when perhaps they are even unable to pray themselves.

A daytime Circle of Prayer and Creativity meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in the Commons.

If you or your small group would like to start a Circle of Prayer and Creativity at another time or if you'd like to help in other ways, please contact Sherry Labate in Adult Ministry & Care at 630-321-3936 or

Healing Prayer Worship

Healing Prayer Worship

The first weekend of every month, our 6:00 p.m. Classic Communion Service has a healing focus along with the regular Worship elements. We offer prayer and anointing for physical, relational, emotional, or psychological healing. A wonderful choral group leads the music, accompanied by the Steinway grand piano. Jesus said that He came to bind up the wounds of the broken in heart, and He is still that healer today.  Child care provided.
